Sri Lanka beat Japan in lop-sided match

Sri Lanka under-19 crushed Japan under-19 by seven wickets in a lop-sided Asia Cup cricket tournament played in Dubai yesterday.

Batting first Japan could score only 75 with Charles Hinze top scoring with 36 runs with four boundaries having faced 52 deliveries.

Malsha Tharupathi was the most successful bowler to capture three wickets for 26 runs.

Sri Lanka replied with 76 for three wickets off just over 12 overs with Sineth Jayawardena unbeaten on 26 with a six and two fours.

Japan U-19: 75 in 30.3 overs (Koji Abe 19, Charles Hinze 36, G. Sanketh 2/18, M. Tharupathi 3/26)

Sri Lanka: 76/3 in 12.2 overs (Sineth Jayawardena 26 n.o. Rusanda Gamage 18, K. Lake 2/27)
