Out of scepticism, actor Antoinette Thilakshini Ratnayake is incredibly believable and charismatic which are also extensively regarded as two of the most notable and significant traits of an actor whose life is dedicated and centred in the field of acting.

The other day, as I revisited a couple of episodes in “Nonimi”- one of Thilakshini’s extolled and affectionately cheered teledramas where she reminded me of every poised and assertive actor who played the universally popular role of Lady Macbeth from Sarah Siddons in 1700s to Valene Kane at the Royal Shakespeare company’s ‘Royal Shakespeare Theatre’ in the Summer of 2023.

The credence and reliance that she leaves with her potential and confidence seem to invite a sense of reassurance, credibility, and grace to the roles with which she is assigned to portray. Thilakshini is immersed with her work and also, she captivates her audiences in such a terrifying style which is apparently her intrinsic knack that predominantly showcases her fervent, intense, and fervid performances in her selected field of acting. Without bumps, Thilakshini is equally durable and sustainable both in mini and large screens. Just at the dawn of December, she came on mini screen with “Sandamali”, a mini tele series telecast on ITN.

Meanwhile, she is delighted over her commitments on “Doosra” and “Elephantpass”; the former is a film, directed by Channa Deshapriya which is waiting release while the later too being a film by Palitha Perera in which shooting has been completed.

Recalling significant and pleasing moments, encountered during her participation in the Moscow Film Festival, Thilakshini shared that representing “Doosra” in Moscow is a momentous and cherished occasion which she treats as rather impressive.

Blends into her role

Thilakshini’s critics and fans may probably go into raptures for her performances that fall into the cohort of believable performances. Thilakshini is invariably a joy to watch on stage and screen. The more she embraces the characters that she portrays, the more unrecognisable she becomes and only the role played by her becomes visible and reflected in the eyes of the viewer. She demonstrates accuracy. She blends into her role whilst translating the intended meaning of the plot that eventually makes the audience spellbound.

A constructive critic would probably notice that Thilakshini puts a lot of work into reading and research on an array of topics that deal with the aspects such as self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and a deep insight into the types of human behaviour and so on, notably prior she takes up with a new assignment.

She is often noticed being duly concerned about the repeated evaluation of the characters around her where she finds that such characters met by her at different situations become the objects of her studies on various roles played by her. She is a classic metaphor that justifies in the fact that an actor is required to carry an amount of considerable energy to summon courage and confidence in an act performed on stage or on camera; playing such astounding and astonishing roles is her piece of cake.

She knows the style of rushing into blissful imagination with the role that she plays. She plants herself in a bona fide and veritable reality, as she is surrounded by cameras and the crew. Exquisite and pungent perfumes are a delight for your smell. Dulcet and concordant music is a delight for your ear. Riveting, engrossing and eloquent Thilakshini’s acting is a delight to watch which becomes a sine qua non element in the field of films and dramas.

As noted by Thilakshini, hers is a life spent with actors and actresses. “I am grateful to each and every person I met along the journey who inspired me to learn as well as to unlearn,” Thilakshini said.
