Fair and Handsome, a men’s grooming brand, concluded a talent search campaign in partnership with YFM Radio to discover the next Fair and Handsome Star Commentator. This activation, aligned with the Cricket World Cup 2023, engaged cricket enthusiasts across the nation in a unique and exciting journey.
The winners of the Fair and Handsome Star Commentator campaign are:
Winner: Kavishka Perera
First runner-up: Chamuditha Thisen
Second runner-up: Sethika Dinal
These talented individuals demonstrated exceptional cricket commentary skills and stood out among the impressive pool of participants. The winner, Kavishka Perera, and the second runner-up, Sethika Dinal, specialise in English commentary — an outstanding feat that adds a unique dimension to their talent.
The campaign featured a mobile studio convoy that traversed through 10 key towns in Sri Lanka, providing aspiring commentators the opportunity to showcase their skills through auditions. The events held in each town were not just auditions; they were lively, interactive affairs filled with activities that allowed the youth to actively participate and celebrate their passion for cricket.
Recognising the power of digital engagement, Fair and Handsome also invited listeners to participate from the comfort of their homes. Cricket enthusiasts across the country were encouraged to submit their own cricket commentary via WhatsApp, adding a digital dimension to the search for the next Fair and Handsome Star Commentator.
From numerous entries, the top 20 contestants earned a coveted spot in an exclusive workshop. This workshop, conducted by professional commentators and renowned announcers in the country, provided participants with valuable insights and training to enhance their commentary skills. The intensive workshop set the stage for the final showdown.
The pinnacle of the campaign was a grand felicitation event where the top three contestants were awarded for their exceptional commentary skills. Sri Lankan Test cricketers Nuwan Zoysa and Tharanga Paranawithana added a touch of cricketing royalty to the occasion. The winners were selected by a panel that included both cricket legends, ensuring a fair and comprehensive evaluation.
