SLSI Director General, Dr. S.G. Senarathna presents the certificate to Working Director CIDA, Trevin Fernando. CIDA officials Director General Eng. S. Amarasekara, Director, Training, Eng. Pradeep Weerasekara and Deputy Director Eng. Sanjeewa Jayasundara and SLSI Deputy Director General Mrs. Samanthi Narangoda look on.

The Centre for Housing Planning and Building (CHPB), a training-arm under the Construction Industry Development Authority (CIDA), has received the ISO 21001-2018 Educational Organisational Management System (EOMS) Certification, from the Sri Lanka Standard Institution (SLSI) recently.

An ISO 9001:2015 certified institute which is accredited under the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) bearing registration number P01/054, CHPB centre is Parliament Road, Pelawatta, Battaramulla. The CHPB centre designs and conducts training courses (including NVQ courses), skills development programs for new entrants to the Construction Industry.

Professional development courses for technical experts and professionals are also under the scope of CHPB curricula, while around 4,000 personnel are trained each year. It has been a dire need for CHPB to obtain ISO 21001:2018 (EOMS) certification to implement the learning and teaching modules economically, maintaining it more effectively and efficiently.

This certification will help to create a competitive workforce that can reach the international market. CHPB is one of the first Government institutions in Sri Lanka to be endowed with such a benchmark within a short span of seven months.
