Five exceptional students, accompanied by two dedicated teachers and a guardian from Mahinda Rajapaksa College, have embarked on a transformative educational journey to Moscow on December 18.
The students have been awarded a prestigious scholarship by Russia International School Interdom, offering them a unique opportunity to delve into Russian culture and international studies over a three-month period. This remarkable initiative was spearheaded by the founder of Mahinda Rajapaksa College, Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardena, during his visit to Russia in 2023. The collaboration received valuable support from the Sri Lankan Embassy in Russia, led by Janitha Liyanage, and the Russian Embassy in Colombo, under the patronage of Ambassador Levan Dzhagaryan.
The scholarship, a first in Mahinda Rajapaksa College’s history, was received as a full scholarship, marking a significant milestone for the institution. Minister Dr. Gunawardena’s commitment to fostering international exposure for students aligns with the school’s current emphasis on foreign studies.
This endeavour not only opens doors for academic growth but also provides a unique cultural exchange experience for the students, enhancing their global perspectives. The Mahinda Rajapaksa College community is proud to witness its students embarking on this enriching journey and looks forward to the positive impact this experience will have on their personal and academic development.
