All seminars, workshops and tuition classes to discuss model questions papers for the forthcoming G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination -2023 will have to be finalised by the concerned parties on or before the midnight of December 29.
“It is illegal and prohibited to conduct the program after December 29 as the G.C.E.(A.L.) Examination-2023 will be held countrywide from January 4 to 31, 2024 at 2,298 examination centres, Kurunegala District Senior Director of Education W.M.Balasooriya said.
Speaking at a recent meeting of the school heads of the Kurunegala District, he said nearly 2,458 special investigators will be deployed to nab candidates who violate these rules and regulations of the Department of Examinations. Stern legal measures will be taken against the offenders.
Nearly 2,300 police officers would be deployed at examination centres during the examination. In addition, 12,000 school teachers and school heads will be deployed for examination duties as supervisors and invigilators.
He warned that if any school and private candidates are found to have violated the rules and regulations at examination centres, their candidature would be cancelled and they will not be allowed to sit for the examination. Those who commit frauds and malpractices while answering the question papers will also be punished severely according to the laws of the Department of Examinations.
Balasooriya said 345 candidates who sat for the G.C.E.(O.L.) and A.L.) Examinations during the past two years were not issued with their results since they were proved to have committed frauds and malpractices at the examination centres.
In a circular to all school heads, Commissioner General of Examinations Amith Jayasundara has instructed that school candidates should be educated on these specific instructions as they are liable to deprive their candidature due to misbehaviour and possible frauds that they would have committed due to their ignorance of these rules, he said.
