A culinary competition aimed at evaluating knowledge of school-leavers of Pamunugama Central and students of National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA) was hosted by Russel’s, at its modern culinary studio.

The competition served as a platform for school- leavers to showcase the culinary techniques and knowledge they have acquired during their industrial training at Russel’s.

Participants were tasked with creating innovative dishes under the guidance of Russel’s chefs, permitting them to demonstrate their proficiency in various culinary styles and cooking methods. All of them were also provided an allowance.

Founder of Russel’s, Russel Perera outlined the importance of practical training in the culinary arts as the country needs a skilled work force to achieve its goal in generating much needed foreign revenue. “This is also our contribution to society to minimise the school-leavers getting involved in vices.”

He appreciated the dedication shown by the school-leavers throughout their industrial training. The panel of judges, comprised the directors of Russel’s, Jehan and Rashane Perera and Russel’s culinary experts headed by Executive Chef Sampath, Sous Chef Saman, pastry Chef Jude and Sameera.

The collaborative initiative between Russel’s, NAITA, and Pamunugama Central underscores the commitment to nurturing and developing the next generation of culinary talent.
