The Southern Province Badminton Association, in collaboration with Sri Lanka Badminton, has announced the acceptance of applications for the Southern Province Open All Island Badminton Championship scheduled to take place from January 28 to February 3 at the District Badminton Sports Complex in Galle, Dadella and Ambalangoda.
Enthusiasts can submit their applications from January 15 for a chance to participate in a range of competitions spanning Open, senior and junior age groups according to the organisers.
Junior competitions, catering to under 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 years for both boys and girls, include Singles and Doubles events. The Open category features a variety of events, such as Men’s and Women’s Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles across different age groups.
This year’s championship introduces women’s and men’s Singles events for the first category among the losers of the Open semi-finals.
According to the organisers, Rs.750,000 is on offer as prize money.
