The Egyptian Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Maged Mosleh paid a courtesy call on State Minister of Investment Promotion, Dilum Amunugama.
At the meeting, the expansion of bilateral trade and investment opportunities between Egypt and Sri Lanka were discussed. Egypt is the 50th export destination for Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka’s main export products to Egypt are desiccated coconut, tea, pneumatic and retreated rubber tyres and tubes, knitted fabrics, woven fabrics, men’s apparels transport equipment, desiccated coconut and cartons, boxes, and paper related products
Recently a group of Sri Lankan entrepreneurs invested in Egypt and attention was paid to develop it further. Talks were held to expand the opportunities for development in trade, investment, and other areas, and it was also agreed to work so that both parties get equal benefits through the economic growth of the two countries.
The Ambassador also highlighted that the Eastern Province was an attractive destination for tourism sector investments. Sri Lanka Board of Investment Director General Mrs. Renuka Weerakoon also participated.
