Deals to the value of over USD 1 million were sealed at the inaugural Gem Sri Lanka Trade Fair, organised by the Chinafort Gem and Jewellery Traders Association (CGJTA) at Cinnamon Bentota Beach Hotel.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe was the chief guest. State Minister of Primary Industries, Chamara Sampath Dissanayake was also present.

The trade fair garnered global attention with the participation of buyers from the USA, Europe, and China and sales to the value of over USD 1 million were made during the event. “With post sales happenings, this will increase to around USD 4 million,” Treasurer of CGJTA, Ahzar Zawahir said

The economic impact of Gem Sri Lanka is anticipated to be substantial, contributing to the growth of the economy by tapping into lesser-exposed international markets and attracting increased foreign transactions for Sri Lankan gem purchases.
