Zahira Under-16 footballers beat team from Maldives

Zahira College’s Under 16 football team became champions with a 3-0 win over Saday Sports Academy of Maldives in a match worked off at Beddagana Football Complex, Kotte last month.

M. Zaid scored the first goal in the 32nd minute for the home team while captain M.Rahil added their second goal in the 34th minute.

Although the visitors tried make inroads it did not succeed due to the powerful defence of the Zahirians.

Just before half time Zaid scored his second goal and the score read 3-0 in favour of Zahira.

The second half of the game was much competitive, but neither of the two teams was able to score goals.

Zahira was coached by KM Kabir while Saday Sports Academy was coached by Mohamed Saeed and N.Abdeen refereed.

The visiting Saday Sports Academy played matches with Evergreen SC, Unicorn SC, SISU Sports Academy, Manchester Academy in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Colombo.

The matches emphasized shared experiences and the development of leadership skills fostering sporting knowledge and strengthening the bond between these two nations.
