This week the Youth Observer reached out to an up and coming young entrepreneur on the strides he has made in the business world.
Treshan is a qualified accountant with CIMA qualifications and a Masters. He spent over a decade in the corporate world, progressing from a management trainee to eventually holding the position of Head of Finance and Administration.
Thereafter, he moved on to a career in hospitality and event management, drawing inspiration from my luxury travel experiences in Europe and worldwide.
In conversation with Treshan here’s what we found out;
Q: How do you feel about being a young entrepreneur?
A: I’m the founder of ‘Haut Monde Event Management and PR’ and the Director of Villa Birdlake, Hikkaduwa. Being a young entrepreneur is challenging; however the ability to shape my vision into reality and witness customer satisfaction brings immense joy.
Q: Why did you decide to get into PR?
A: My inspiration to start Haut Monde stemmed from a desire to bring luxury experiences to Sri Lanka, fueled by my travels and perfectionist nature. This is something I have contemplated; a friend convinced me that I have what it takes, and here I am!
Q: What are some ways you think your PR firm stand out
A: We specialise in curated luxury events. We put together experiences which are very different from your traditional events.
From the ideal guest list, emphasizing meticulous details, unique decorations, immersive experiences, and effective media coverage.
It’s a complete package of the entire event process while also giving a business or brand the right exposure and marketing.
Q: What is your key inspiration to do what you do? And what motivates you?
A: My drive for perfection, creativity, and passion for delivering the best experiences motivate me daily. My passion pushes me to work harder.
My inner drive to look into the most meticulous detail and creativity plays a huge role too. I am motivated to do the best job because I am passionate about what I do!
Q: According to you, what makes a business unique?
A: A unique business involves dedication, commitment, and a meticulous approach, ensuring every aspect is handled with excellence.
Q: How do you generate new ideas?
A: I’m quite creative, I always look for inspiration and ideas through my international travels.
Generating ideas involves staying creative, thinking outside the box, and staying flexible to meet changing demands.
Q: How do you maintain relationships with your clients?
A: I maintain a close relationship with clients: Direct communication, top-notch service, and personal involvement contribute to strong client connections.
Q: What is a day in your life as a business owner like?
A: A day in my life as a business owner involves overseeing operations, planning events, getting things organised for upcoming events, ensuring perfection in every detail, overlooking ongoing campaigns and being punctual and efficient. I also make it a point to hit the gym daily.
Q: What have you learnt from your mistakes and have they made you stronger?
A: Mistakes have been learning opportunities, making me stronger by emphasising the importance of flexibility and dedication. I do not recall anything specific, but there are many things that I learnt as I went on and it has been a very fulfilling experience.
Q: How do you define success?
A: Success to me is achieving true passion, reaching ultimate customer satisfaction, and bringing unique value to the industry.
Q: What is some of the best advice you have gotten about starting a business?
A: The best advice I have received is to pursue your passion, believe in your dream, and don’t let financial barriers or fear of failure deter you.
I try to incorporate this into my life and work ethic.
Q: What do you think makes an entrepreneur bad?
A: I think a bad entrepreneur lacks dedication, commitment, and a unique value proposition; they succumb to pressure and aren’t passionate. In order to succeed you simply need drive and passion together with hard work.
Q: What kind of advice will you give aspiring business persons?
A: Follow your passion, be creative, break away from traditional methods, stay flexible, and believe in your unique value proposition.
