The finals of the men’s and women’s singles events in the First Capital SSC Open Tennis Championship 2024 will be played today at the SSC courts.
All major players reached the final stage and some have already won in their age groups.
In the women’s semi-finals played on Friday Saajida Razick registered a convincing straight sets win over Tuwini de Alwis while the ever rising Dinara de Silva was made to toil for her victory by Dinethya Dharmaratne in a three-setter.
In the men’s semi-finals Apna Perera played excellent tennis to beat Mineth Nawaratne in straight sets.
In the other semi-final Kiran Vairavanathan managed to beat Chathurya Nilaweera after losing the first set on 5-7. He came back strongly to win the second and third sets comfortably.
