A try in the 68th minute by Nirash Perera made CH and FC pip Army SC by 18 points (2 tries, 1 conversion, 2 penalties) to 17 (2 tries, 2 conversions, 1 penalty) in their League rugby encounter played at Panagoda yesterday.
Army scored first in the 17th minute through a penalty by Ashan Bandara and thereafter it was CH who scored a try by Prasath Madusanka and the conversion was made by Hirusha Nethmina.
CH opened scoring in the second half through a penalty by Hirusha Nethmina.
Army took over the scoring after that and scored a try by Nalaka Maduranga that was converted by Bandara to equal the scores on 10-10.
CH went ahead when Hirusha Nethmina put over a penalty in the 53rd minute.
But that did not last long as Army came back and scored a try by Kaveen Perera converted by Lakshan Jayawickrema to give them the lead 17-13.
But CH fought back and scored a try by Nirash Perera in the 68th minute and took the lead by a solitary point which they held on until the finish.
