Minister of Transport, Highways and Mass Media Dr. Bandula Gunawardena has instructed the Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Ranjith Rubasinghe to convene a meeting tomorrow, January 29 at 9.30 a.m. at the Transport and Highways Ministry to study the facts and reports that have been submitted due to the two consecutive fatal accidents on the Katunayake Expressway and propose solutions. When the country was closed during the Covid-19 pandemic, the electricity supply on the Katunayake Expressway was disconnected due to thieves removing copper wiring worth over Rs. 250 million.

The Minister has instructed the Secretaries of the Ministries to submit a report on the progress of the electricity supply system from Kerawalapitiya by using aluminum wire instead of copper wire.
