A new scouting movement, the All Ceylon Scout Movement, has been launched in Sri Lanka with ambitious goals of engaging millions of children across the island nation.
Led by chairman Dr. W. Champika Roshan Lowe, the movement aspires to attract over four million children currently enrolled in schools.
President of the World Federation of Independent Scouts, Klaus Albert Tegeder visited Sri Lanka recently to endorse the All Ceylon Scout Movement and support its growth.
Dr. Lowe, drawing upon his experience with the Scout Association of Sri Lanka, set up the All Ceylon Scout Movement with a unique vision. His two daughters, seasoned scouts themselves, will hold key positions as international program coordinators. The All Ceylon Scout Movement operates as an independent company because it was registered with the Department of the Registrar of Companies. Launched during the Covid-19 pandemic, it has over 2,000 uniformed members who participate in training sessions guided by teachers. The movement strives to develop well-rounded individuals through its activities, aiming to award the President’s medal in the future. Dr. Lowe believes that scouting fosters valuable skills and character traits, contributing to the individual and collective well-being of Sri Lanka.
