Binithi Perera, Kaif Sally, and Dinara Abeyewickreme of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Faculty of Law, secured the “Runners-up” position at the VMSCL International Dispute Resolution Competition in Goa, India. Competing against 24 international teams, they also won the Best Negotiation Team award in the preliminary round.

This achievement at Asia’s premier competition greatly contributes to their preparation for the upcoming 19th ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition in Paris, France, a world championship event in student negotiation and mediation. With these impressive results, the team is now recognized as one of the three main Asian contenders in Paris. They extended their congratulations to the National University of Singapore (NUS) for their commendable performance in the final and expressed gratitude to NALSAR University for the challenging semi-final. The team extended heartfelt thanks to all sponsors, patrons, and coaches whose invaluable support has led to KDU MCDS’ first international podium win.
