Major splash at two mile sea swim

An unknown number of swimmers will compete for titles at the 84th annual Two Mile Sea Swim to be held on March 15 and 16 at the Mount Lavinia Sea.

The women’s Open and the under-15 boys and girls events will be held on March 15 while the men’s Open will be held on March 16.

The Two Mile Open Sea Swim will be open to competitors in the categories of Open (Men/Women) to competitors who are 13 years of age or above as at December 31, 2024 (born on or before 2011) and Under-15 (Boys/Girls) open to competitors who are between the ages of 13 and 14 years as at December 31, 2024 (born in 2010 and 2011).

A competitor who is Under-15 years of age will be able to participate either in the Open or Under-15 category but not both.

The race must be completed in 90 minutes from their respective start times. However, only those completing the course within 70 minutes for men and 75 minutes for women will receive points according to the organizers while all competitors completing the course in 90 minutes will receive certificates.

Entries for local athletes could be submitted along with the corresponding payments to reach SLASU office on or before February 29, 2024 by 3.00 pm hand delivered, registered post or email.

No other forms of submission will be accepted according to an official and entries of foreign athletes could be submitted along with proof of the corresponding payments to reach SLASU office on or before February 15, 2024 by 3.00 pm by email to [email protected].

Entries for the above championship will be accepted from fully paid-up affiliate members of the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union and athletes registered for the year 2024 by the affiliate member will be permitted to participate under the Local Athlete category.

A foreign national who is living in Sri Lanka for the past two years and who has the SLASU swimming registration for the years 2022 and 2023 will also be considered only for the purpose of competing in the championships under this category. However, performances of such swimmers will not be taken into consideration for national selection or for National swimming records.
