International junior tennis players from Japan, China, USA, India, South Korea, Taipei, Israel, Malaysia and Thailand were the pick of the exponents from overseas that showcased themselves and contested the ITF Under-18 J-30 championships that ended on Friday at the SLT courts at Sir Marcus Fernando Mawatha in Colombo 7.
Budding players from Sri Lanka fought to the very end in their matches but could not proceed beyond the quarter final stages against the strong and tough opponents from overseas.
But tennis watchers and former Sri Lanka players claimed the exposure that the local players received contesting the event could put them in good stead for the future.
The weather too kept fine and according to Sri Lanka tennis officials, the event was a complete success although it was not well patronized by more followers and well-wishers.
