Indonesia and Sri Lanka will begin negotiations for a Bilateral Trade Agreement, Indonesia Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Dewi Gustina Tobing said last week.

She was speaking on “Current status of bilateral trade, potential market opportunities in Indonesia”, at the bilateral trade and investment discussion between Sri Lanka and Indonesia, organised by the National Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (NCCSL) at its auditorium.

She outlined the importance of working together to increase bilateral trade.

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Indonesia and ASEAN, Admiral (retd) Prof. Jayanath Colombage and Second Secretary, Commercial, Heshani Kaushalya, joined the discussion virtually.

Colombage provided an overview of the market conditions and potential sectors to explore in Indonesia.

Valuable information on trade, investment and opportunities for export and import were discussed during the event. The participants freely interacted with the Ambassador and her officials and discussed possibilities with regard to trade and investment in Indonesia.

The National Chamber plans to conduct follow up sessions to develop business connections between the two countries.
