A/L starters at a knowledge sharing workshop

The Knowledge Sharing Wing of Colombo Ananda Balika Vidyalaya’s old Girls held a series of programs recently to provide essential guidance and support to the school’s Advanced Level (AL) students.

The program included a series of presentations and coaching sessions to help students develop the skills and mindset to succeed in their AL exams. They were conducted by the former students of the college holding senior and middle management positions in various fields, including engineering, law, human resource management, information technology, medicine, banking, finance, general management, and education.

The main presentation discussed strategies for excelling in AL studies. The workshop focused on effective time management, providing students with practical tools and resources for creating schedules, prioritising tasks, and improving study skills. Students were engaged in critical thinking and problem- solving through interactive activities and discussions, while shared study experiences and success stories boosted their confidence and motivation.

Character development

The Knowledge Wing’s Sachithra Wjerathne, Nikini Mapitigama, Thejanee Wijesinghe, and Madhavi Dissanayaka conducted presentations on the importance of achieving excellent A/L results. Erandi Perera, Ramani Jayasekara, Nilushi Gohunuwatte, and Sachitha Madushani conducted workshops on character development in shaping the future. They shared real-life experiences, highlighted the values of integrity, leadership, and teamwork.

The students gained insights into the significance of skills such as effective communication and problem-solving, the importance of early career planning and participation in extracurricular activities. .

The students learn practical stress management skills to stay balanced and thrive in academic skills from Dr. Neelamani Rajapaksa, along with Deepani Priyangika, Dilani Perera, and Lakshmi Senanayaka,

Multiple coaching sessions led by professionals holding Senior and Middle Management Positions from various fields, including Engineering, Law, HR Management, IT, Medicine, Banking, Finance, General Management and Education were also conducted. These sessions provided students with valuable insights into potential career paths and opportunities, fostering a positive and supportive environment for goal setting and skill development. Prof. Thamara Gunasekare, Shanthi Niroshini, Mekhala Gamage, Kushani Panditharathna, Eresha Randunu, Chamathka Ramasundara, Nayana Jayanetti, Thanuja Colombage, Shaharwan Hassim, Shiromi Wijerathna, Somiprabha Athukorala, Gayani Dikkumbura, Lieutenant Iresha Jayapala and Sanoji Perera conducted the coaching sessions.

Charting the future

Vindya Cumaratunga discussed the future plans of the Knowledge Wing at Ananda Balika VIdyalaya, and added that the team is organising monthly Knowledge Sharing Sessions. These sessions aim to enhance the value of OL/AL Curriculum Studies and extend their impact beyond. CW
