The semi-finals of the 14th Oxford President’s Cup Football Round, organized by the 80s Alumni Group of Hemeed Al Hussainie College, Colombo, will be held at the Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo this afternoon (18).
Defending champions Hameed Al Hussainie College and Gateway College, who have been dominating this tournament so far have played well this time and advanced to the semi-finals without conceding a single goal to their opponents.
These two teams will face each other in the second semi-final starting at 4.00 pm today.
Hameed Al Husseinie defeated Mawanella Baduriya in the pre quarter-finals (6-0) and St. Joseph’s in the quarter-finals (4-0).
Gateway beat Wesley (4-0) in the pre quarter and Royal (5-0) in the quarter-final to advance to the semi-finals.
Prior to this match, the first semi-final starting at 2.00 pm will see S. Thomas’ Mt. Lavinia taking on Al Hilal from Negombo.
S. Thomas’ beat Maris Stella 3-1 on penalties in the first quarter and St. Benedict’s also won 2-0 on penalties. Al Hilal defeated Aligarh (2-0) in the quarter-final and St. Mary’s Negombo (5-1)
