Trevor Rajaratnam

Trevor Rajaratnam, one of the few gentlemen who sat in the boardrooms of Sri Lanka Cricket as vice president and treasurer, passed away and his funeral was held on Friday at the General Cemetery in Borella.

Many dignitaries paid their last respects to the late Rajaratnam whose honesty and integrity as a sports official brought him many admirers locally and overseas.

Interestingly Sri Lanka Cricket which has now become a hotbed of financial abuse and nepotism said in a media statement that Rajaratnam “did yeoman service to the game of cricket in Sri Lanka as an administrator”.

“Sri Lanka’s cricket fraternity remains indebted to him for the valuable services for the game in the country”, SLC’s media statement also said.

Rajaratnam passed away on Wednesday and his remains were kept at the AF Raymond funeral parlour that was followed by an evangelical church service at the cemetery attended by a large gathering.
