Sri Lanka girls reached the pinnacle when they finished on top winning the final game as well beating Kyrgyzstan 2-0 in the final match of the Billie Jean King Cup junior tournament at the SLTA courts at Sir Marcus Fernando Mawatha yesterday.

They have now qualified to play in the final round in Khazakstan from May 13 to 17.

In the first singles encounter Ivanka Samarasinghe had no difficulty in beating Sezim Sagyanbaeva in straight sets 6/2, 6/0.

In the second singles match Dinara de Silva faced a stiff opposition offered by Safina Khabibrakhmanova but emerged winner in straight sets 6/4, 6/4.

Along with the lasses from Sri Lanka the lasses from the Philippines too have qualified to proceed to the final round to be played in Khazakstan.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka boys were a disappointed lot as they could not qualify to reach the final round in the Davis Cup Asia Oceania Junior tournament.

In the final match played yesterday between Jordan and Iran the latter won 2-1.

The first singles matches had each side win one and the doubles match had to be played to decide the winners.
