Same old faces at Kandy cricket
The AGM of the Kandy District Cricket Association (KDCA) was held on February 22 at the Grand Kandyan Hotel and the treasurer of Sri Lanka Cricket Sujeewa Godaliyada revealed more support was on the way for them from the parent body.
Ex-prisons officer Tissa Jayasinghe was re-elected president and the long standing secretary Janaka Pathirane too was re-elected. Last year KDCA kept the game going with the inter-club tournaments and the new committee is expected to continue the trend.

Trinity athletic meet
The Trinity College annual inter-house athletic meet will be held on March 1 at the Asgiriya International Cricket Stadium, starting at 9.30 a.m.
Kandy’s traditional matches next month
All Kandy schools have planned their traditional cricket encounters for next month. The Trinity College versus St. Anthony’s College match known as the Battle of the Blues of the Hill Capital will be held on March 15 and 16 for the John Halangoda Memorial Trophy and the Battle of the Maroons between Dharmaraja College and Kingswood College, for the 117th year will be played for the TB Tennekoon Shield on March 22 and 23 at the Pallekelle International Stadium.
Then the Battle of the Babes between St. Sylvester’s College and Vidyartha College for the 65th occasion will be played at the Pallekelle International Stadium on March 29 and 30 in memory of Rev. Fr. Don George.
Kandy’s Battle of the Golds, which will be the 25th game between Wariyapola Sri Sumangala (St. Paul’s) College and Sri Rahula College, will be played also in March and the dates are yet to be announced.
The other traditional matches are between Madeena Central College and Al Azhar College, Teldeniya National School against D.S. Senanayake College and Nugawela Central College versus Walala A. Ratnayake Central College.
