An international App based transport workers organisation this week pledged to promote Sri Lanka as a friendly tourist destination in their countries and beyond, Charith Attanpola, a spokesman for the grouping said.
He said the International Alliance of App-Based Transport Workers (IAATW) held a three-day workshop in Colombo and it was attended by representatives from 21 countries in Asia and elsewhere.
“As Sri Lanka is showing a speedy recovery in the economic sector, working with a global movement, it will be a huge benefit to the country on attracting more tourists. Excellent quality app-based transport infrastructure will attract more tourists to Sri Lanka and with a trustworthy transport network”, Attanpola said.
The foreign delegates from all over the world who toured the country later expressed their support for the promotion of tourism in Sri Lanka.
Not only that a large number of App-based drivers are involved in the tourist sector and they were encouraged to hold the conference in Sri Lanka since the island-nation has earned positive publicity in the international arena as a tourist friendly destination with clean beaches, world heritage sites, wild life and much more,” Attanapola said.
At the end of the day those who participated in the Colombo Conference will carry a positive message of tourism in Sri Lanka to the hundreds of thousands of customers that hire their vehicles in their countries.
He added that was also the first such conference of this nature to be held in Sri Lanka which will no doubt give a boost to the local tourist industry in the future. LB
