The Athukorala Tea Factory, coming under the Athukorala Tea Estates Group, earned a record price of Rs. 5,950 per kg for its FBOPFEXSP Pure Ceylon Tea at the Colombo Tea Auction (Number 10) held on March 6. This Tea was marketed at the auction under the “Athukorala Group Super” brand.
This lot was purchased by Uni World Teas. Athukorala Group, established in 1991, has gained all relevant international quality standards certifications and has won several international awards for its range of Pure Ceylon Teas. Athukorala Tea uses the best low grown tea leaves in order to manufacture their local and international Ceylon Tea products.
The Athukorala Group was one of the pioneers of the concept of organic teas in Sri Lanka.
