Second division golfer is overall best at HSBC Challenge

Ashan Welegedera won the HSBC Premier golf tournament that was played at the Nuwara Eliya course on March 2 as he obtained the highest Stableford points of 39 to be declared the winner despite playing in the B division and was awarded the Premier Challenge Trophy.

Rajeev Rajapakse won the A Division with 35 points and Sathies Balasubramaniam was the winner of the C Division with 36 points with a better back nine score while Mohamad Fazeel won the Seniors Division scoring29 points and Ahalya Rajan was adjudged the winner of the women’s division with 34 points.

The tournament attracted 130 HSBC Premier golfers that was conducted with two shot gun starts that further enhanced the golfing experience on the course.

This year Balasubramaniam and Capt. Jayalath Perera were presented with an exclusive invitation to embark on an unforgettable journey to the Open, one of golf’s most esteemed events set to take place at the Royal Troon in Scotland.
