St. Sylvester’s U-10football champs

St. Sylvester’s College under-10 football team emerged as the champions in the Central Province football tournament.

Schools from Kandy, Gampola and Galagedera participated in the event that was organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Football Federation.

In the final St. Sylvester’s College coached by Manju Gunasekera beat Jabbar Muslim College Galagedera 1-0.

Road Race

The St. Sylvester’s College inter-house road race will take place on March 14, organized by the school and sponsored by the Old Sylvestrians Sports Club. The four houses are Gemunu, Parakrama, Vijaya and Tissa.

The start and end will be opposite the senior school premises, covering a distance of seven kilometres.

Fifteen athletes from each house will compete.

All set for 105th Trinity-Antonian

The 105th cricket encounter between Trinity College and St. Anthony’s College is set to be played on March 15 and 16 at the Asgiriya Stadium.

This is the sixth oldest traditional cricket encounter in the country and also called the Battle of the Blues played for the John Halangoda memorial trophy that was introduced in 2005 in memory of a former Trinity cricketer and coach who guided them to win in 1948.

Trinity leads the series tally with 23 wins while St. Anthony’s won it only 11 times with 70 matches ending in draws.
