In a groundbreaking moment for sports enthusiasts, Padel House Colombo unveiled the nation’s first-ever Padel Tennis Court in Thimbirigasyaya Colombo 5.
The launch took place on February 27 with the presence of the Minister of Sports Harin Fernando amid a gathering of invitees and sports enthusiasts marking a significant milestone in the country’s sports and recreation landscape.
“We are thrilled to pioneer the introduction of Padel to Sri Lanka through Padel House.
“Our vision is to redefine sports experiences in the country and Padel, being a globally celebrated sport, aligns perfectly with that ambition.
“This launch signifies more than just a new venture. It’s a commitment to fostering a community of sports enthusiasts,” said Shamal Perera Director Padel House.
According to officials, Padel tennis which is a fusion of tennis and squash, promises to be a game-changer in the local sports scene offering a unique and inclusive experience for players of all ages and diverse levels of expertise.
Commenting on the functional aspect, Director Padel House Rajeev Rajapakse said: “At Padel House, we are passionate about the technical brilliance of Padel. It combines strategy, skill and sheer enjoyment on the court.
“The adaptability of the game allows players, irrespective of their age, fitness levels or skills at racquet sports to engage in a game.
“Padel is easy to pick up, yet intricate enough to offer a compelling challenge. We are excited to share the technical intricacies of Padel Tennis with the Sri Lankan community”.
