Sri Lanka tennis sisters Senulya and Binudi Wijeyawardena grabbed major honours at the Maldives-Sri Lanka Tennis Challenge tournament held at the Tennis Association of Maldives in Male recently.
Senulya became the Women’s Open singles champion while Binudi finished as the runner-up in the same event.
The tournament was played on a round robin basis and the group leaders advanced to the semi-finals.
In the semi-final Senulya beat Maldivian ranked number three player Nayara Usama Ali (7-5, 5-7, 10-8).
In the Open women’s doubles event Senulya and Malsha Mohamed beat Sarah Mohamed and Manha Mohamad Ali (6-1, 6-2) in the final. Senulya won the Open singles and doubles events while Binudi finished as runner-up in the singles event. Both hail from Visakha Vidyalaya.
