Penguins live in some of the coldest places on earth, in a land of snow and ice. But, you can also find penguins on sunny beaches and on grassy lands near clear blue seas.
There are nearly 20 different kinds of penguins. They come in different sizes, but they are all the same shape.
They have long bodies and stumpy little legs. Many birds can fly, but not penguins because their wings are too small for flying and their bodies are too heavy to get off the ground. Penguins use their wings for swimming instead of flying.
