Mahanama defy DSS in follow-on

Mahanama College opening batsmen batted aggressively and cautiously to score 207 runs without losing a wicket in their second innings after being asked to follow-on to force a draw in their annual Battle of the Golds encounter against DS Senanayake College at the SSC ground yesterday.

DS Senanayake College had a lead of 141 runs on the first innings but enforcing the follow-on Mahanama put up a solid display.

Dulnith Sigera made an unbeaten100 while Kavindu Amameth scored 106 not out with both batters scoring 13 fours and a six each.

DS Senanayake College: 370/4 dec (Gaviru Senhas 200 n.o. Malitha Perera 118, Duvindu Ranatunga 2/80, Ghamika Heenatigala 2/69)

Mahanama College: 239 (Dulnith Sigera 63, Rashmika Perera 41, Induka Karannagoda 61, Akmal Fazly 5/77, Randisha Bandaranayake 2/45) and 207 for no loss in 32.3 overs (Dulnith Sigera 100 n.o. Kavindu Amameth 106 n.o.)
