Adding an iconic landmark to Colombo city, India-based hotel chain ITC will open ITC Ratnadeepa on April 25, with President Ranil Wickremesinghe as the chief guest.
Developed by its subsidiary WelcomHotels Lanka, the hotel offers 352 luxury rooms and is believed to have three floors with bullet proofing to entertain and host VVIPS’ from around the world.
It will also have a helipad. The company is reported to have invested close to 3,000 crore Indian rupees in the luxury property.
ITC Hotel Group operates properties under six brands, ITC Hotels, Mementos, Welcomhotel, Storii, Fortune, and WelcomHeritage.
This is also the first time the international brand is going overseas and the group would continue to launch new hotels in different geographies of India as there is a robust pipeline of projects.
In the past two years, it has opened 22 hotels and is expected to open 25 hotels in the next two years (January 2024-December 2025). Overall, it is targeting 200 hotels with about 18,000 keys over the next five years with two-third of the keys in the managed portfolio, according to the company’s recent investor document.
