Amal Dalugoda

Former Sri Lanka First Class cricketer Amal Dalugoda has earned a place in the England over-50 team and could be playing in a veterans’ World Cup next year.

A product of Nalanda College, Dalugoda played as a left arm spinner and lower order batsman for the Colombo Cricket Club (CCC) and later turned out for Badureliya Cricket Club in the domestic First Class tournament before moving over to England in 2006 where he qualified for citizenship.

He represented Lancashire and rose up in the ranks to become the first Sri Lankan to be picked to play for England in any age group.

He is expected to play his first match with the England over-50 team against Wales on May 12.

Last year Dalugoda represented Lancashire in a side match against the touring New Zealand team and is tipped to represent the England over-50 team in a triangular series against Australia and India.
