Amitha Sandeepa
In a rare occurrence, Amitha Sandeepa an all-rounder from St. Anthony’s College Wattala scored an unbeaten century (118 not out) and took seven wickets in their drawn maiden Battle of the Golden Blues cricket encounter against St. Joseph Vaz College Wennappuwa at the P. Sara Oval in Colombo yesterday.
Sandeepa hit one six and 13 fours in a total of 235 for St. Anthony’s and when his team defended the score he took seven wickets to restrict St. Joseph Vaz to 183 all out to win the contest on first innings.
Dominic Fernando bowled best for St. Joseph Vaz to capture 4 for 12 runs. Another highlight of the match was some spectacular fielding by the Anthonians.
