Ravi K. chief guest at New Year celebrations

The Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations jointly organised by the Akram Foundation, Vanitha Saviya Foundation and Colombo Youth Club was held at Hyde Park, Colombo recently under the patronage of President of the Akram Foundation and former Western Provincial Councillor Mohamed Akram.

Former Finance Minister and Colombo North UNP Organiser Ravi Karunanayake was the Chief Guest.

Karunanayake said that people in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia live in peace without any racial issues. He said, “Let’s get together to develop our country.” He also requested all Sri Lankans to come forward to work on behalf of the country and live in peace and harmony among the Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims, Malays and Burgher communities in the country.

Karunanayake said we need unity among all communities for peaceful living.
