Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in most provinces of the island after 2p.m. today, a Meteorology Department official said yesterday.
Heavy showers of over 100mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-western provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts, he said.
Showers may occur at a few places in the coastal areas of the Western and Southern Provinces during the morning as well. Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts during the morning, he said.
The public is advised to take precautions to minimise damage caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers, the official said.
