Malwatte Valley champions

The 22nd Dickoya Maskeliya Cricket Club Inter-Plantation Rugby Sevens 2024 made defending champions Malwatte Valley Plantations pocket the title this time too.

Elpitiya Plantations finished as runners-up.

The teams in action were Talawakelle, Kelani Valley, Elpitiya, Hatton, Bogawanthalawa, Maturata, Maskeliya, Kotagala and Agrapatana Combine (Lankem), Kegalle and Namunukula Combine (Arpico), Pusellawa and Agalawatte (Damro) Combine and Malwatte Valley.

In the Cup final Malwatte Valley Plantations beat Maskeliya Plantations 26 – 12.

In the Shield final Damro Agalawatte Combine won 26 – 15 and in the Bowl final Thalawakele Plantations beat Lankem Plantations 21 – 7.

In the Plate final Elpitiya Plantations beat Bogawantalawa Plantations 36 – 5.

Sylvestrian CC win

Sylvestrians Cricket Club beat Madawala Cricket Club by seven wickets in the Kandy District Cricket Association inter-club T20 match played on Friday (10) at the Prison ground.

Scores:

Madawala CC: 108 in 19.5 overs (Mohamed Riyaz 25, Mohamed Mizahr 23, M. Balasuriya 2/6, Amith Kumara 2/18)

Sylvestrians CC: 109 for 3 in 15.3 (Isuru Amarasinghe 34, C. Waduge 26 n.o.)

St. Anthony’s runners-up

St. Anthony’s College finished as runners-up in the under-17 All Island schools badminton championship.
