We are looking at Studio Kayami for its commendable dedication throughout the month of May.
They have meticulously curated a series of captivating events scheduled from May 11 to June 1.
This past weekend commenced with a remarkable fusion of jewelry crafting and poetry.
On May 11, from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm, the fashion-forward duo, Amirah and Aamilah, graced us with a jewellery making workshop.
Renowned for their sustainable approach, they repurposed fabric scraps into exquisite earrings, aligning with their ethos of zero waste fashion. This exclusive workshop, bearing a nominal fee, showcased their expertise and provided participants with a unique creative experience.
In celebration of Mother’s Day, Studio Kayami invites you to a special poetry reading on May 12. Renowned poet, advertising professional and devoted mother, Megan Dhakshini, will enchant visitors with excerpts from her latest book, “Softly We Fall.” This event, from 11:00 am to 12:15 pm, promises an enriching experience for all attendees. Admission is complimentary, welcoming guests to bring their cherished mothers or relish the occasion solo.
Studio Kayami is a community space and a safe space for anyone to drop in, share their art, mingle, meet like minded people and generally have a good time.
Speaking to Thaveesha Fernando, Studio Manager, we found that studio kayami hosts an array of events regularly simply to support other artists.
“I would like to stress that this space is available to host events at any time as it is available for anyone to drop in and meet like-minded people, we have created here a space for the community,” she added.
