The Embassy of Vietnam organised Vietnam Day in commemoration of the 134th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh at the Public Library premises on Friday, May 17. The ceremony was held under the patronage of Ambassador of Vietnam, Ho Thi Thanh Truc, who paid a flower tribute to the late President Ho Chi Minh. Secretary to the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Somarathne Vidanapathirana was the guest of honour.
Ambassadors of Thailand, Malaysia, UAE, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Romania, Russia, Cuba, United Kingdom, Myanmar, Korea, Iraq, Netherland, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, Iran including Secretary General of Colombo Plan were present.
The Ambassador presented a token of appreciation to the Secretary, Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Somarathne Vidanapathirana, Secretary General of the Sri Lanka-Vietnam Solidarity Association, Sudasinghe Sugathapala, Chief Librarian of the Colombo Public Library, Waruni Gagabadaarachchi and Mohamed Iqbal.
Former Minister D.E.W. Gunasekera, Member of Parliament Yadamini Gunawardena, Colombo Municipal Council Commissioner J. M. Bhadranie Jayawardhana, officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnam Embassy Counsellor Le.Van Huong and embassy officials were also present.
