A Sri Lankan table tennis coach Wajira Wickramasinghe, who is a certified national level coach, is set to elevate the sport in the United States of America.
In a significant move, the United States Table Tennis Association (USATT) has officially certified Wickramasinghe’s credentials marking a milestone in the American table tennis landscape.
Wickramasinghe finds himself among a select few in the USA, reflecting his exceptional skills and expertise in the sport which is testament to his extensive experience and dedication to table tennis. With over two decades of coaching under his belt, he has served as a national team coach for two countries, the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
His valuable contributions to the sport extend beyond national borders, as he holds the esteemed position of being the only International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) appointed course expert in Sri Lanka to conduct international coach education courses.
This role as an ITTF course conductor underscores Wickramasinghe’s role in shaping the next generation of table tennis coaches on an international scale, with fewer than 200 individuals worldwide holding this distinction.
Throughout his coaching career, Wickramasinghe has demonstrated a remarkable ability to nurture talent and produce outstanding athletes.
Under his guidance, numerous players have clinched national and international medals, showcasing the effectiveness of his coaching methods.
