74 schools in the fray at U-17 cricket

A grand total of 74 teams will be divided into 12 groups to participate in the Under-17 Division One schools cricket tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association.

First round matches will be played on league basis and 32 teams will qualify to the final round that will be played on a knock-out basis.

De Mazenod College Kandana emerged champions and Prince of Wales College Moratuwa were runners-up in this tournament last season.

Lyceum International School Wattala emerged champions in the Division II and the runners-up Christ King College Ja-Ela will be promoted to Division One this season.

The first round will start from June 4 and completed by July 5.

Groupings:

Group A: St. Sebastian’s College Moratuwa, S. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia, St. John’s College Nugegoda, Ananda College, Dharmapala College Pannipitiya, Lumbini College and Piliyandala Central College

Group B: St. Peter’s College, Royal College, President’s College Kotte, Moratu Vidyalaya, De La Salle College, St. Anthony’s College Wattala and Thurstan College

Group C: Isipathana College, St. Joseph’s College, Nalanda College, Mahanama College Panadura, Sri Jayewardenepura MV Kotte and Prince of Wales College

Group D: Mahanama College, St. Benedict’s College, Ananda Sastralaya Kotte, Wesley College, Asoka College and D.S. Senanayake College

Group E: De Mazenod College, St. Joseph’s College Wattala, Henegama Central College, Lyceum International School Wattala, Bandaranayake College Gampaha and Gurukula College

Group F: St. Joseph Vaz College, Christ King College Ja Ela, Maris Stella Negombo, Galahitiyawa Central College Ganemulla, Sri Dharmaloka College Kelaniya and St. Peter’s College Negombo

Group G: St. Servatius College Matara, Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda, Kalutara Vidyalaya, Mahinda College, Vidyaloka College Galle and Revatha College Balapitiya

Group H: Rahula College Matara, Richmond College, St. Aloysius College, Devapathiraja College, St. Thomas’ College Matara and P. De S. Kularathna College Ambalangoda

Group J: Holy Cross College Kalutara, St. John’s College Panadura, Sri Devananda College Ambalangoda, Tissa Central College Kalutara, Sri Sumangala College Panadura and Taxila Central College Horana

Group K: Trinity College Kandy, Vidyartha College, Sri Sumangala College, St. Mary’s College Kegalle, St. John’s College Jaffna and Kingswood College

Group L: Sandalanka Central College, Wickramashila NS Giriulla, St. Anne’s College Kurunegala, St. Xavier’s College Marawila, St. Mary’s College Chilaw and St. Sebastian’s College Katuneriya.

Group M: Maliyadeva College Kurunegala, Dharmaraja College Kandy, St. Anthony’s College Katugastota, Sri Rahula College Katugastota, St. Sylvester’s College Kandy and St. Thomas’ College Matale.
