Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is exploring opportunities to offer Starlink services (managed satellite connectivity solutions for business and government applications) to Sri Lanka.
Musk who visited Indonesia last week to launch the Starlink satellite internet service expressed his desire in this regard when he met President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the World Water Forum in Indonesia and said he plans to visit Sri Lanka next December to further this proposal.
He was in Indonesia to launch the Starlink satellite internet service in Bali to serve around 1,700 nearby unserved and outermost islands and took a speed test of the service with several health workers.
“This can make it really a lifesaver for remote medical clinics, and I think it could be a possibility for education as well,” Musk told reporters.
The tech billionaire is also waiting for Indian Government regulatory approvals to initiate Starlink satellite broadband services in the country.
