Over 100 contest Moratuwa YMCA badminton

Udan Peiris emerged the winner in the boys’ under-13 category while Menara Sethuli was the under-13 girls’ winner at the Eleventh Open Annual Badminton Tournament conducted by the YMCA Moratuwa at their indoor sports complex on May 11 and 12.

This tournament organized by the YMCA Moratuwa attracted entries from more than 100 up and coming youngsters who exhibited a high standard.

The Chief Guest at the finals was president of YMCA Moratuwa Nilani Manthrinayake Attorney-at-Law who also made the presentations of awards.

Directors of YMCA-Moratuwa together with parents and well-wishers of players witnessed this tourney which has become a popular event in the YMCA’s annual calendar.

Winners and runners up received valuable gifts, medals and certificates according to the organisers.

Among the main sponsors of the tournament were Lalith Perera-Vice President of WPBA; Astron Lanka; H.S. Marketing and Puwakaramba Agencies.

(Girls) U-11:
Winner: Dulaya Bataduwaarachchi
Runner up: Romasha Ferdinando

(Girls) U-13:
Winner: Menara Sethuli
Runner up: Methuki Nethaya
