Prematilake shines in golf
Kandy’s Suren Prematilake produced a good display at the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club (NEGC) Monthly Medal event winning in the handicap of 0 to 16. Prematilake a product of Trinity College was also a fine cricketer now shining in golf and sure to do well in future events.
Sri Rahula ‘Rhinos’ rugby
Sri Rahula College ‘Rhinos’ will be having a legends 7s tag rugby tournament on June 8 starting from 9 am at their grounds in Katugastota.
The last game of the day will be the Present Boys’ vs Legends match which will be a ten-a-side match for the Kalu Perera memorial trophy.

GSC upgrades basketball court
The new basketball court of Good Shepherd Convent Kandy with added tennis facilities was commissioned recently. A big hand should go to the principal Rev. Sr. Marie Sudharika Fernando for her vision and dedication to uplift the standard of sports at this convent.
Sylvestrain boxers do well
St. Sylvester’s College boxers did well at the ABA Novices Boxing meet 2024.
They won three gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze.
The College will be celebrating their 84th anniversary this year and produced a famous international boxer in Malcolm Bulner.
Four Kandy girls in hockey team
WGAS Wijesuriya (Kandy DHA), PGMP Gunaratne and Kavindya Hansini (Swarnamali Girls College) and PGRHS Senaratne (Mahamaya Girls College) have made Kandy proud being selected to the Sri Lanka women’s under-21 hockey team that will be participating in the Women’s Junior Asia Hockey Federation Cup competition from June 14 to 23 in Singapore.
