Quitting the mind and letting the soul speak is exactly what Vidura College, Maharagama, did when the teachers, students, and parents collectively celebrated the Saddhanjali Vesak program – 2024. Vidura College, boasting over 25 years of education and excellence in the country, is the brainchild of the current Principal, D.G. Sumanasekara, and has built on the three pillars of national thinking, cultural heritage, and religious fervour.
Delivering the keynote welcome address, the headmistress of Vidura College, Maharagama, Givanthi Seneviratna, said, “It’s with great pride that we present to you for the very first time a grand event of this nature. The theme of our Saddhanjali Vesak program is focused on environmental sustainability. The headmistress went on to elaborate on how the Vidura College, Maharagama Branch, will be partnering with a leading corporate giant in Sri Lanka to achieve environmental sustainability goals. Seneviratne also emphasised how this co-curricular activity will contribute towards the personality development of the children at the school.
Illuminating the Vesak lanterns and the pandal were the dignitaries, Chairman, Dr. Ranjith Cabraal, Principal, D.G. Sumanasekara, Vice Principal of the Primary Section, Swarnaki Wijenayaka and the headmistress, Givanthi Seneviratne. The Saddhanjali Vesak program is portrayed by the Jataka Katha.
