The Department of Buddhist Affairs has called for applications from applicants for the Dharmacharya Examination -2024. Accordingly, all heads of Sunday Dhamma Schools countrywide have been informed to send in their students’ applications on or before June 18, 2024.
Private candidates are unable to apply directly but they can apply through the Dhamma schools close by to them by paying the relevant examination fees to the Dhamma school when they submit their application form, Kurunegala District Senior Advisor to Sunday Dhamma Schools’ Heads Ven. Kadigamuwe Upali Thera told the Sunday Observer.
He said the examination will be held in both the Sinhala and Tamil mediums this year and passing this examination would enable the candidates to qualify to be a teacher at international schools and other recognised educational institutes.
When teachers of religions are recruited for Government schools those who have passed this examination will be given priority when such interviews are held for selecting teachers by the Education Ministry, he said.
