First Capital Holdings PLC, in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka, announced recently the successful completion of its CSR project aimed at providing access to safe and dignified housing for under-privileged families in the Bope-Poddala Division, Galle District. At a ceremony attended by senior staff from both organisations and key government officials, two new homes were handed over to deserving families.
From First Capital, Manjula Mathews, Deputy Chairperson; Dilshan Wirasekara, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer; and Randinith Madanayake, AGM/Head of Marketing, attended the event. H.G. Kithmini Sadeepthika, Acting Divisional Secretary of Bope-Poddala DS Division, and representatives from Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka, including Yu Hwa Li, National Director; Eng. T. Kaandeepan, Senior Construction Manager; and P. Suresh, Technical Officer, were also present.
The “First Capital Housing Project” was initiated in the Galle District with a mission to provide safe and stable homes for low-income families. The first four homes were constructed for K. H. Achala Udayanthi, G. W. Siripala, H. G. Krishanthi, and K. H. Vipulasena, under the technical supervision of Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka.
Emphasising eco-friendly practices, the homes have been built using Compressed Stabilised Earth Blocks (CSEB), promoting climate-appropriate construction. This initiative not only aims to improve living conditions but also considers the environmental impact, marking a step towards promoting sustainable development practices.
