New moon for Hajj sighted

The Colombo Grand Mosque has announced that a new moon for the month of Dul Hajj was sighted in Puttalam on Friday (June 7) evening.

Muslims in Sri Lanka will celebrate the festival of Eid ul Azha (Hajj Festival) on Monday, June 17. The decision was taken at a meeting attended by President of the All Ceylon Jammiyyathul Ulema (the Supreme Council of Muslim Theologians of Sri Lanka) Ash Sheik M. I. M. Rizvi Mufthi, Colombo Grand Mosque President Thahir Razeen and Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs Religious Development Officer Ash Sheik M.M.M. Mufthi.
